Causes of a Hacked Webmail Email Account

Solution 1: Turn on the Two-Factor Authentication to Improve Your Account’s Security

When you recognize that your account has been hacked, take action and enable the 2FA factor to resolve the security issue. 

1. To start, log in to your email account on your internet browser. 

2. Then, move ahead to the Account Settings and hit that option. 

3. Now, check the Password or Security option. 

4. After that, click the 2FA option to move forward. 

5. In the next step, continue with all the on-screen steps to turn on 2FA. 

6. To continue, select an option for verification, whether a verification code, SMS, or email address. 

7. Now, you’ll finish setting up your account by verifying your identity. 

8. When the 2FA factor is ON, you’ll get a verification code while you’re logging into your account. 

Solution 2: Change Your Account’s Password

If you’ve used your account’s password for a different account, try changing your account password. 

1. If you doubt that your account is hacked, change the password. 

2. To change your password, log in to your email account. 

3. Now, go to the Account Settings option. 

4. After that, search the Change Password or a similar option and select it. 

5. In the next step, supply your current password into the field and supply the new password.

Solution 3: Perform an Antivirus Scan on Your Device to Find Any Malware or Virus

As malware or viruses are the main reason for the hacking of your account, run an antivirus scan on your device. 

1. In the beginning, ensure that your PC has antivirus software installed. 

2. Then, open the option and find the Scan option. 

3. After you find the Scan option, select an option to run a full system scan. 

4. When the scanning begins, it will scan all the files and folders in your system. 

5. Also, scanning will eliminate malware, viruses, and all unwanted files from your PC. 

6. Finally, you can restart the computer and check if the account is accessible or not. 

Solution 4: Check Your Webmail Account Settings

When there are some setting issues in your account, it can become more vulnerable to hacking attacks. Hence, check your account for any suspicious activity. 

1. Open your account by supplying the correct login details.
