Lost/Deleted Emails Recovery

If you have lost or deleted important emails in your AOL account, you can try to recover them by checking the Recently Deleted or Trash folders. If the emails are not there, you can contact AOL customer support service to help recover them. It is important to act quickly, as deleted emails may only be recoverable for a limited time.

Causes

  • Accidentally press the delete button while browsing the inbox
  • Hacking or phishing attempts to delete emails
  • Virus or malware infect the system resulting in data loss
  • Overcrowding a mailbox with too many emails leads to inadvertent deletion
  • Incompatibility issues with browsers or email clients, resulting in data loss
  • Solution 1: Check the Trash folder for recently deleted emails within the last 7 days

  1. In the beginning, log in to your AOL email account on AOL.com.
  2. Next, click on the Trash icon located in the left-hand panel.
  3. Then, look for the recently deleted emails you want to recover in the Trash folder.
  4. After that, checkmark the box next to the email(s) you want to recover.
  5. In the next step, you have to hit the Action button above.
  6. Lastly, select Inbox under "Move to" to restore the email(s) to your inbox.

Solution 2: Contact AOL customer support to retrieve deleted emails permanently deleted over 7 days ago

  1. To get started, go to the AOL Help website.
  2. After that, you have to select the Email category.
  3. Then, choose the option to Contact Us.
  4. Next, select "Email Us" or "Chat with Us."
