Q1: Let us know, since how long have you been facing this error/issue:

Unable to Send or Receive Email

Your iCloud account may have an “unable to send or receive email” error because of several reasons, such as faulty internet connection, email forwarding settings, and push notifications. And maybe there are some more causes behind this issue. In order to resolve this problem, you should check the email settings and apply some relevant methods like verifying the internet connection, restarting the computer, and turning on some notifications. If your issue doesn’t get resolved, you should contact your Apple Support for assistance.

Causes of Being Unable to Send or Receive Emails in iCloud

When your iCloud mail is unable to send or receive emails, some reasons work behind that issue to cause them. Here is the list.

  • Faulty internet connection

  • When the email forwarding is ON

  • Any email is mistakenly marked as junk.

  • Setting issues in the device

  • Insufficient space

  • When your mail account is blocked

  • When your push notifications are OFF

Solution 1: Confirm That Your Mail Is ON in Settings on Your Device

You should check if your iCloud email is enabled on your device, such as an iPad, iPhone, or iPod. Check the steps to do it:

  1. In the first step, launch the Settings option on your device.

  2. Then, move on to the Passwords & Accounts option and click on it.

  3. Now, you need to click on your iCloud account.

  4. After that, make sure that Mail is ON and is green.

  5. If you find that option off, enable it and try to check your email once again.

Solution 2: Make Sure That New Data Is Pushed to Your Device Automatically

You must ensure that your device is getting data automatically. Check these steps:

  1. First of all, head over to the Settings on your device.

  2. Then, hit the Mail option.

  3. After that, click on the Accounts option.

  4. Now, move on to the Fetch New Data.

  5. Next, check if the Push option is ON.

  6. Moving forward, verify that your account is shown under the Fetch option.

  7. If you don’t see your account listed, click on Add Account.

  8. In the next step, continue with the on-screen steps to add your account.

  9. Finally, close the Settings menu and check if your account is able to send and receive email.

Solution 3: Check Push by Sending an Email to Your iCloud Account

You should check your iCloud mail is working by testing the push by simply sending an email to your account:

  1. Go to your iCloud email account and on your iOS.

  2. Then, try composing a new email and send it to your iCloud email ID.

  3. Now, wait for some time and verify if your email comes automatically into your inbox without refreshing it.

  4. After that, if you see the email arriving, the Push feature will be working.

  5. On the other hand, if you don’t see the email arriving, you must troubleshoot the issue by ensuring a stable internet connection.

  6. You can also restart your device.

Solution 4: Disable and Turn on Your Device

To eradicate the error, you can perform a power cycle with your device. Check out the steps to do it:

  1. In the beginning, press and hold the Sleep button until you see the red sliders.

  2. Then, turn off your device.

  3. Wait for a few seconds, and again press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until you see the Apple logo.

  4. Moving forward, allow your device to restart.

  5. Now, verify if your iCloud email is sending and receiving emails.
