Set Forwarding to Email

Setting up forwarding to Btinternet email allows incoming messages to be automatically forwarded to another email address. This can be useful if you want to receive all your emails in one place. However, it is important to ensure that forwarding is set up correctly and is not being used for malicious purposes.

Reasons Behind Set Forwarding to BTinternet Account Issue

There is only one major cause of the "Set Forwarding to Btinternet Email" issue, and that is when the user sets up forwarding rules to forward incoming emails to their BT email account but faces difficulty in receiving forwarded emails. This could be due to misconfiguration or issues with the forwarding service.

Solution 1: Check email forwarding settings for unauthorized forwarding rules

  1. First, tap on the Settings icon from the toolbar in your BT email account.
  2. After that, choose the Mail option from the left side menu.
  3. From the drop-down menu, select the Auto Forward option.
  4. Ensure the option to auto forward all incoming emails is not ticked and no email is entered in the destination field.
  5. If any emails are present in the destination field, remove them.
  6. In the next step, press the Save button in the toolbar.
  7. A message will appear at the top of the screen.
  8. If you need to forward your emails to another email, follow the steps and ensure the option is ticked for keeping a copy of forwarded mail.
  9. To cancel the auto-forwarding, un-tick Auto forward all incoming emails, remove the destination email, and hit Save.

Solution 2: If forwarding is enabled, disable it, and check if the issue is resolved

  1. First of all, log in to your Btinternet email account.
  2. From the toolbar, open the Settings tab.
  3. Then, click on the Mail panel from the left-hand menu.
  4. From the drop-down menu, tap Auto forward.
  5. Now, untick the option to Auto forward all incoming emails.
  6. Next, remove any destination email address if present.
  7. After that, tap on Save in the tab toolbar.
  8. Confirm the cancellation of auto-forwarding by checking if a confirmation message appears at the top of the page.
  9. Check if the issue is resolved by sending a test email to your account.

Solution 3: Reset your BT password for authorized access

  1. Go to the Btinternet login page and click on Forgotten password.
  2. After that, enter your email address and select Next.
  3. Choose how you want to receive your security code, either by email or text message.
  4. Then, type in the security code you receive and press Next.
  5. Create a new password for your account, following the password requirements listed on the page.
  6. Now, confirm your new password and hit the Next button.
  7. You should receive a confirmation message that your password has been changed.

Make sure to choose a strong password and never share it with anyone to ensure that only authorized users have access to your account.

Solution 4: Scan for malware to detect security threats

  1. First, install and launch a reputable antivirus or anti-malware software on your device.
  2. Update the virus definitions of the software to ensure the latest protection against malware.
  3. Perform a full scan of your device, which may take some time depending on the size of your device and the number of files it contains.
  4. Once completed, review the results and take appropriate action if any malware is detected.
  5. Follow the steps to remove or quarantine any detected malware or threats.
  6. Lastly, restart your device to finish the malware removal process.
