  3. Now, determine you have set imap.mail.yahoo.com for IMAP. 

  4. After that, check out that POP is set to pop.mail.yahoo.com. 

  5. Ensure that the outgoing mail server is set to smtp.mail.yahoo.com.

  6. Now, find that the incoming server port for IMAP is set to 993. 

  7. For POP, it should be 995. 

  8. The outgoing server port should be 465. 

  9. Thereafter, make SSL/TLS selections for incoming and outgoing servers. 

  10. Next, type in your BT email account username and password. 

  11. Finally, tap Save to save the settings. 

After making changes to settings, check that you are able to send and receive an email with your BTinternet account. 

Solution 2: Use the Correct Server Type: IMAP or POP

When you use the correct IMAP/POP server type, your POP and IMAP issues will be resolved. Follow these guidelines for the same. 

  1. Initially, open the email program on your device. 

  2. Then, make a move to the account settings. 

  3. Now, determine that the Mail Server type is set to IMAP or POP. 

  4. Afterward, find out which server type is the best according to your requirements.  

  5. Update account settings if you need to switch server types. 

  6. Next, remember to save all the changes. 

  7. Then, restart your BTinterent account. 

After this solution, make sure to check that issues have been solved. 

Solution 3: Disable Antivirus or Firewall Temporarily 

Disabling antivirus or firewalls and then checking email access is a good option. But how will you proceed? These are some effective steps. 

  1. Go to the Start menu on your system. 

  2. There, make a move to the Control Panel. 

  3. Once you are there, select the System and Security option. 

  4. After that, select Windows Firewall. 

  5. Next, click on Turn Windows Firewall on/off. 

  6. For Private network settings and Public network settings, select the turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) option. 

  7. Also, click on the OK button. 

  8. Then, open the antivirus software on your system. 

  9. Now, select Disable/Turn Off from the options available. 

  10. Finally, open the email program and check that it is running properly. 

If you find that the antivirus is not associated with the issue, re-enable the program. It helps maintain the security of your system. 

Solution 4: Avoid Sending Issues by Enabling SMTP Authentication 

IMAP and POP issues can be solved with SMTP authentication enabled. Do it with the below steps. 

  1. Initiate this by opening the email program on your system. 

  2. Then, move to Settings/Options. 

  3. Next, find the Outgoing Server/SMTP settings. 

  4. After that, select those settings. 

  5. Now, check or tick mark My outgoing server; SMTP needs authentication. 

  6. Also, select Use the same settings as an incoming mail server. 

  7. Then, save all the changes. 

  8. Finally, exit from the Settings/Options menu. 

After completing these steps, try to send an email and find out if the SMTP authentication is functioning in the correct manner.
