  • The sender entered the wrong email address 

  • Spam folder 

  • Internet connection issues 

  • The sender’s email address is blocked or marked as spam. 

 

Solution 1: Review Server Settings 

The first solution is to check your server settings. Here’s how to review it: 

 

  1. Open your browser and go to the BT Email Login page. 

  2. Sign in to your BT Mail account using webmail.

  3. Send a self-test email to confirm if the problem is still there.

 

Solution 2: Confirm Configuration for POP

Still, the problem is the same. No worries! Walk through the steps given below to confirm the configuration for POP: 

 

  1. If using Outlook, sign into your account and select the Settings icon. 

  2. Click View all Outlook Settings, choose Mail, and click on Sync Email. 

  3. Press the Windows + R keys together to launch the Run command box. 

  4. After that, type Outlook in the open field and hit OK. 

  5. Enter your BTinternet email address, select Advanced Options, and click the checkbox saying, “Let me set up my account manually.”

  6. Then, select POP and confirm whether the incoming server name is mail.btinternet.com.

  7. Also, check that the Port is set to 995. 

  8. Ensure the Encryption Method is set to SSL/TLS. 

  9. Set the Outgoing mail server to mail.btinternet.com, and the Port is 587. 

  10. Select the Encryption Method as STARTTLS from the drop-down menu. 

  11. Once done, select Go back and choose IMAP.

  12. Ensure your incoming mail server’s name is mail.btinternet.com, and check if the port number is 993. 

  13. Select the Encryption Method SSL/TLS from the drop-down box. 

  14. Next, ensure that the Outgoing mail server name is mail.btinternet.com and the Port is 465.

  15. Once done, hit the Next button, enter your password and select Connect. 

 

Solution 3: Logout & Login Back In 

The other solution is simply to log out and log back in. Follow the steps given below:

 

  1. If you’re using webmail, go to the drop-down menu in the screen’s top right corner. 

  2. After that, select Sign Out. 

  3. After signing out, navigate to the BT Mail Login page. 

  4. Enter your login username and password. 

  5. Next, click on the Sign In button. 

  6. Send yourself a test email to verify whether the issue persists. 

 

Solution 4: Confirm if the Sender’s Email Address Is Not Classified as Spam or Blocked

There could be a possibility that the sender’s email is blocked or marked as spammed. However, it can be solved by following the steps mentioned below: 

 

  1. Sign in to the BTinternet email account and head to the Settings or Options section in the email program. 

  2. Find the Blocked Addresses or Spam Filters option and select it. 

  3. After that, confirm if the sender’s email address is blocked or on the spam list. 

  4. If the sender’s email address was found in any of the lists, remove it. 

  5. Finally, save the changes and check whether you can receive the sender’s emails.
